Beach & Boat Day Packing List for Lebanon
The checklist for a day on the Lebanese coast — and how to keep your phone, keys and wallet dry and sand-free.
By the Rihla team · · 2 min read

From Tyre in the south to Batroun and beyond, Lebanon's coast is made for long days on the sand and the water: swimming, boat trips, paddleboarding and sunset swims. What ruins those days is not the sun — it's a wet phone, a salt-crusted wallet or car keys at the bottom of the sea. A waterproof bag solves all three.
Put these in the waterproof bag
- Phone (in a small pouch inside the bag, as a backup) and a power bank
- Car and house keys — a lost key on a boat is a day-ender
- Wallet, cash and ID
- Sunscreen and lip balm — sealed so nothing leaks onto electronics
- Sunglasses in a case
- A dry change of clothes or at least a dry top and underwear
- A small microfibre towel — packs small and dries quickly
Keep these outside the bag
- Water and snacks — you'll want them within reach
- Life jackets and safety gear — never packed away on a boat
- A hat and a cover-up
- A bag for rubbish — pack it out
Sand and salt
Sand and salt crystals are a closure's worst enemy: they stop a roll-top sealing properly. Wipe the mouth of the bag before you roll it, rinse it with fresh water after salt exposure and let it dry fully before storing — see how to test, clean and store a dry bag.
Choosing the right bag for the day
For a swim-and-sunbathe day, the Rihla 5L holds phone, keys, wallet and sunscreen and slings across your body on its detachable strap. For a full boat day with towels, spare clothes and a camera, the 15L has more room. Our size guide helps you decide.
Wearing the bag across your body on a boat means it can't slide off or get kicked into the water, and it's the first thing to grab if you swim. Read more in our waterproof shoulder bag guide.
Frequently asked questions
What should I put in a waterproof bag for the beach?
Phone, keys, wallet, ID, sunscreen, sunglasses and a dry change of clothes. Keep water, snacks and safety gear outside the bag.
Can I take a waterproof bag in the sea?
A correctly rolled bag with sound seams is designed to handle splashes and brief dunks. Don't rely on it for deliberate swimming with a phone inside unless you've tested it first.
How do I protect my bag from sand and salt?
Wipe the mouth before rolling, rinse with fresh water after salt exposure, and dry it fully before storing.
